The concept of Spa was born in Belgium. There were a few villas called Spa where were offered services similar to a Spa. The guests soon realized that during their stay they were cured of certain ailments they had. For this reason Spas were soon extended throughout Europe. It is not known where Spa lost its last letter and why now is Spa. From there on the meaning “Salute per Aqua” was adopted (health by water).
