If you love cycling, the Sierra de Tramuntana is, without any doubt, a fantastic place full of incredible places and unique landscapes in front of the sea to practice this sport. Especially in these spring months, when the weather is very pleasant and we enjoy much sunnier and warmer days. So, for all these reasons, today we bring you two perfect road cycling routes to discover the Tramuntana mountain range, some of the most spectacular villages on the north coast of Mallorca and, in short, a very special way of getting to know magical places in the Mediterranean while doing sport!

ROUTE 1.

GRAN HOTEL - PUIG MAJOR - LLUCLluc - FORNALUTX - SÓLLER
We will leave the Gran Hotel Sóller heading towards the main road at the entrance to Sóller in the direction of the Port until we reach a roundabout where we can turn left to go to the Port of Sóller or turn right in the direction of Lluc. Turn right towards Lluc, the starting point of our route. So we will go up the Puig Major road for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes until we reach the entrance to the road tunnel, where we will take a break to catch our breath and enjoy the marvellous views of the Sóller Valley and Puig Major, the highest mountain on the island, from the viewpoint on the right. We then continue our route, crossing the tunnel until we reach the next viewpoint, located just after the Military Base. This viewpoint offers fantastic views of the Embassament de Cúber, one of the most important natural water reserves in the Tramuntana mountain range. After taking some photographs, we continue our route in the direction of Lluc. We will reach this place after approximately 50 minutes. Leaving the Embassament de Cúber behind, we can enjoy other fantastic points of interest such as the Gorg Blau reservoir and the Almallutx sanctuary (archaeological site) until we reach a turn-off where there is a picturesque bar next to an old aqueduct. At this point we can choose to turn left towards Sa Calobra, or right, under the aqueduct, towards Lluc. So we will head to the right, passing by the Mirador de s'Entreforc viewpoint, until we reach Lluc. Here we can take a break for lunch and visit the Monastery or Sanctuary of Lluc. After lunch and a visit to this fantastic place in Escorca, we will continue our route back towards the Valley of Sóller, and although it is not a circular route, we will visit some different places before arriving back at the hotel.
We will leave Lluc in the direction of Sóller along the Puig Major road, passing by the various reservoirs and viewpoints that we will have visited during the morning, until we arrive, in approximately 2 hours, at the Ses Barques viewpoint. A fantastic place to enjoy incredible views of the bay of Puerto de Sóller, the Sóller Valley and to have a refreshment before continuing our route. It is worth mentioning that the Mirador de Ses Barques is located about 20 minutes by bike from the Gran Hotel Sóller, so we can enjoy this wonderful place knowing that we are almost in the centre of Sóller
After taking a break and taking our photographs, we continue descending in the direction of Sóller until we find the turn-off to Fornalutx, located on the left of the road. Once there, we will take this detour and change our route back, taking advantage of the opportunity to visit this fantastic village in the Tramuntana, which has been awarded on several occasions as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. After taking a break to visit the picturesque centre of Fornalutx, we continue down towards Sóller, passing through the Calle de La Luna and the Plaça Constitució until we reach the Gran Hotel Sóller. This is where our route ends and where we suggest you visit our SPA to relax after a long day of sport before enjoying a magnificent dinner with fresh, high quality products at Can Blau Restaurant.

ROUTE 2.

GRAN HOTEL - ESPORLES - VALLDEMOSSA - DEIÀ - SÓLLER
Another option that we propose for you to enjoy cycling in the Tramuntana mountain range is a more "urban" route, as we will discover several of the municipalities of the Tramuntana, such as Deià, Valldemossa and Esporles. As with route 1, we will start our route from the Gran Hotel Sóller and head towards Palma along the Sóller road until, just before the Sóller Tunnel, we take the turn-off onto the Coll de Sóller road, one of the most iconic and beautiful roads in the Sóller Valley. After approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, you will have passed this fantastic mountain pass and, leaving the Alfàbia Gardens on your left, continue along the Sóller road (Ma-11) until you turn off to the right towards Esporles. You will reach Esporles in about 45 minutes. Once there, we recommend that you take a break in the centre of the village and enjoy breakfast before continuing on our route. After a short break, we will continue our route in the direction of Valldemossa along a picturesque, little-travelled road that links the two municipalities (Ma-10). After approximately 1 hour's drive we will arrive at the fantastic municipality of Valldemossa. A perfect place to enjoy the traditional

traditional gastronomy with the typical "Coca de patata" and discover magical places such as the Royal Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa. We then continue our cycling route in the direction of Deià along the road that links both municipalities until we reach the Sa Foradada viewpoint. We recommend that you take some photographs at this spot. Finally, after about 50 minutes of cycling, including a stop, we arrive at Deià, a picturesque, bohemian and artistic village in the Tramuntana region. A magical place to get to know the Mediterranean spirit of the north coast

We will then continue our route back to the Gran Hotel Sóller. We will then head towards Sóller along the Deià road (Ma-10) on a pleasant return to the Sóller Valley with the Mediterranean Sea and the Tramuntana mountain range in the background. After about 40 minutes we will be back at the Gran Hotel Sóller. Here you can relax after a fantastic day of cycling in the Mediterranean and enjoy a fantastic dinner in our restaurant Can Blau

Spring is a very special time to enjoy cycling in the Tramuntana, especially in the months of April and May, as these are the months that mark the beginning of the good weather, with longer and sunnier days, with very pleasant temperatures to practice this sport and all this in a magical place surrounded by nature, which allows us to enjoy even more this fantastic season of the year, the flowering of the flora and how the towns of the north coast are filled with colours and atmosphere. Undoubtedly, a magnificent setting to enjoy sport in a fresh and natural place and, at the same time, to discover the authentic Mediterranean, its culture, its tradition and its gastronomy.

If you are staying at our hotel and would like more information about these and other cycling routes in the Tramuntana, both road cycling and mountain biking, do not hesitate to ask us at reception. We will be happy to help you solve all your doubts.
