CRISTINA AND THE MANAGEMENT OF THE GRAND HOTEL SÓLLER
THE CONSTANT PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE
The Gran Hotel Sóller is one of the most emblematic and characteristic buildings in the Sóller Valley and one of the few 5-star hotels in the center of our municipality. Since its opening in 2004, the hotel has worked to offer an immersive, relaxed, magical, and exclusive experience to fully enjoy one of the most special places in the Tramuntana Mountains. The hotel was designed by architect Joaquín Pavía Birmingham, who also designed the Palace of the Provincial Council of Mallorca (the current seat of the Consell de Mallorca). Today, the hotel combines the beauty and history of its architecture with the most cutting-edge services and amenities. An experience that we undoubtedly could not offer without the various teams and their respective members who work daily to provide us with an unforgettable stay. A highly experienced human team led by Cristina, the director of the Gran Hotel Sóller, who, after years of work, has become like family to many of our guests who return to enjoy a few days in the center of Sóller with us.
This loyalty makes us very proud and reflects one of the most important objectives and values that define the Gran Hotel Sóller and its director. So today, we bring you an article to get to know Cristina, the director of the Gran Hotel Sóller, and learn about her work, values, career, and goals at the helm. A management that works to make the Gran Hotel Sóller the perfect place to experience an authentic Mediterranean experience in the heart of the Sóller Valley in a luxurious, exclusive environment with all the advantages you can imagine.
CRISTINA'S CAREER, DIRECTOR OF THE GRAND HOTEL SÓLLER
To understand Cristina's career, we must travel back in time to 2005. At that time, she was studying Business at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). In that same year, Cristina decided to work during the summer and, after searching, she found an internship at the Gran Hotel Sóller. So, she started working at the hotel. During that summer, she discovered that she really liked the job, and after that first summer, she decided to leave her Business studies and started a degree in Tourism at the UIB. She pursued her studies without ever leaving the Gran Hotel Sóller, combining work at the hotel with her education. Thus, after completing her studies, Cristina earned a promotion at the Grand Hotel Sóller and became a receptionist. Over time, with much work and dedication, Cristina continued to rise within the hotel, eventually becoming head receptionist for a period before being promoted to assistant director of the Gran Hotel Sóller, a position she held until the beginning of this very year, 2024. This year, she was appointed director of the Gran Hotel Sóller.
Thus, from her position as director, Cristina currently works to maintain the motivations and values that define the Gran Hotel Sóller, characteristics that undoubtedly captivated her when she first wanted to work in this special place in the Sóller Valley. As she describes it, "the type of client, the hotel's location, its surroundings, the proximity, and the family-like treatment make the Gran Hotel Sóller a very special, pleasant, and tranquil place to both work and stay."
Values that are also reflected in her internal management style, which focuses on two fundamental elements: justice and equality. These values define Cristina's management 100%, seeking that among the various departments and colleagues that make up the staff at the Gran Hotel Sóller, there is always equality and the same opportunities and treatment for each of our colleagues. This is why, for Cristina, the work environment, the desire to work, and attitude, beyond being a good professional, are very important elements when it comes to being part of the Gran Hotel Sóller team because "these values help define the very experience of our guests," as Cristina comments.
THE DAY-TO-DAY LEADERSHIP OF THE GRAND HOTEL SÓLLER
Cristina's main objective as director is to lead by example above all else. She works as one of the team and does not take advantage of her position at the hotel. Therefore, in her day-to-day, she seeks to motivate her colleagues, listen to them, and value the work and initiatives of the various teams.
For Cristina, these objectives are a personal challenge, as they have allowed her to rise to the position of director, fulfilling both a personal and family challenge. Elements that very well define her way of managing the hotel.
Thus, Cristina works as a point of connection between the different teams to ensure good connection and organization among all departments, thus achieving the goal of offering a perfect stay. An unforgettable and personalized experience for each of our guests, achieved thanks to the family-like character of the Gran Hotel Sóller both internally and with our guests, making them feel at home at all times. Characteristics that Cristina is very proud of and that can be achieved, as she says, with "teamwork and not just from the management. The team first, then me."
THE EXCELLENCE OF THE GRAND HOTEL SÓLLER AS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE
During all these years working at the hotel, Cristina has discovered the value of excellence to offer an unforgettable and unique stay in the center of Sóller. Personalized and close attention for each guest, always having the facilities in the best condition, the availability of our entire team to help our guests, and caring for the surrounding environment are values that define the core experience that the Gran Hotel Sóller seeks to convey to all our guests. As Cristina says, the most important thing to ensure our guests' stay is perfect is not just that the room is impeccable but also that the entire environment and what it conveys, whether through our facilities, our gastronomy, and our colleagues, are elements at their entire disposal at all times. Elements that define both our hotel and our director. Welcome to the Gran Hotel Sóller!
